Day 24

Today is Monday and the beginning of another week.  This morning Jake went for an early walk and then listened as we did some school work.  After that he came with us out to Sidney and after we all went for a nice long walk around Latoria Creek Park.  I like when Jake waits for me to get up.  He waits outside my door until my mom lets him in. Today he came in my room and looked under my covers but I was hiding.  It was funny to watch him look for me.  He is such a loveable dog

Day 22

Today it was sunny. Jake helped wash the car, do the laundry and garden. He also watched me play some badminton! He didn’t seem to mind the birds when he helped garden. Most Cocker Spaniels have a high pray drive and like to chase small game.
The Cocker Spaniel was originally bred as hunting dogs in the United Kingdom.

Day 21

Today it was rainy so we didn't go for very many long walks. Instead we took Jake in the car while we ran our errands. He was very good in the car and enjoyed watching different people! This afternoon him and Darby had a long nap. We woke them up at supper time. When we were eating dinner we looked around and realized Jake was in Darby's bed sound asleep! We couldn't believe it. We usually don't let other dogs lye in Darby's bed because it is his own. We try to make sure the foster dog or visitor dog knows what is his/her's and what is Darby's.

Day 20

SUNNY DAY:) The sun shined all day today! The dogs were out on the balcony most of the afternoon. Today Jake got three long walks and enjoyed napping in the sun! This afternoon Jake and Darby slept, it was like preschool nap time.  Gotta love that!

Day 19

Today I thought I would let Jake do the talking!

"Today I got up at 7:30.  My usual routine is out for a potty break and then upstairs for breakfast.  2/3 of a cup of nice Nature's Gate Sweet Potato and Venison dry with about 2 tbsp. of wet to get my tummy inspired. Then I have to wait for Emma to get up and eventually someone lets me in her room to jump on her bed and wake her up.

Wednesday is "crazy day" at there house.  We leave the house at about 9 a.m. and get home at about 3:30.  I got to go to a school, choir practice, a craft store and then to guitar lessons.  In between all of these places I explored new blades of grass, the odd fire hydrant and many, many trees.  Sorry today I took no selfies!"

Love Jake

Day 18

Today was a beautiful sunny day and a good day to watch someone else mow the lawn.  Jake watched my mom mow the lawn along with Darby.  After supper it started to rain so it was too wet to go for a walk.  Jake enjoyed a "spa" treatment on the couch with a comb.  He was so content he fell asleep while I was grooming him.

Day 17

Another beautiful Spring Day.  Jake checked out the herbs starting to grow on the balcony and decided that he did not like the rosemary too much.  A nice walk in Sidney at the yacht club gave Jake lots of exposure to some sailors.

Day 16

Sunday was lazy! I am sorry I didn't write yesterday, I totally forgot. As I said in my last post Sunday is called "Swiffer Sunday" in this house! We cleaned our basement and even though Jake was trying to help he just got into stuff!

Day 15

We'll Jake seems to fit in just like family.  It will be hard to see him return to his foster family.  It was rather rainy here but we did manage to have a few good walks.  Every Saturday night is movie night at our house and Jake was quite at home to find his place in the media room.  It was a good thing he slept thru most of the movie.  It was very scary!

Tomorrow is "Swiffer Sunday".  It is really too bad Jake has such a stubby tail because I can't attach a duster to it.

Day 14

Today was another lazy day! Jake went for a two hour walk and slept the rest of the day. Today Jake also tried carrots. I don't know if he has had them before but he seemed to like them:) He had fun sitting on our balcony in the sun too. Tonight he sat with us while we watched a movie! Okay maybe it wasn't such a lazy day!

Day 13

Today was a lazy "bug" Jake day. I wanted to see how much I could bug him, just like a "big bug sister might".  I teased him with the ball, shook his paws, played with his ears, lips and tail and he didn't bother a bit about anything.  I blew in his face and tickled his whiskers!  He is totally a mellow, mellow, fellow.

We also went to Pet Smart and tried out some toys and even a rain jacket.  He didn't seem that interested in Pet Smart, so we left.

Two really big walks and lots of trees to pee on.  Now he's sleeping! Thank Goodness for that!

Day 12

Today we discovered something very interesting about Jake. When we were on a walk we saw a man in a baseball cap, he came over to Jake and Jake started to growl at him. We asked him to take off his hat and Jake stopped growling. We have observed this before so we will see if we come across it again. When we came home I put on a hat and Jake didn't growl. Tonight when my dad came home he was wearing a hat and Jake growled. We now think Jake has a problem with men in hats. I have decided that I am going to start working with him on that.

This afternoon Jake came my choir practice with me.  He was spoiled by all the girls!

We are just waiting to hear from Lisa, the founder of the rescue because Jake needs to have surgery on his back hind leg.  He has a luxating patella, commonly known as a "floating knee cap".  This is a common problem with dogs and occurs in small dogs more often then larger dogs.  It can also be genetic.  The rescue has been raising money since last Fall for Jakes surgery.  When the dogs come up from the shelters in Los Angeles the vets check them out as best as they can but some things can get missed. I have been collecting bottles from our friends and neighbours and giving the money to help Jake.  If you would like to donate to the rescue to help Jake's medical expenses or just to donate please visit the website at www.angelsunderourwings.com.

I will keep you posted when we have a date.

I think he's been fed from the table!

Day 11

This morning Jake jumped up on my bed and woke me up with a big slobbery kiss! Today we did some baking and Jake enjoyed laying in the kitchen watching. We also took him and Darby for a nice long walk around our street. Jake is now sound asleep on the coach.

Day 10

Happy St. Patricks Day! We are not sure if Jake is Irish but that doesn't mean we can't celebrate! We had another wonderful day. It was sunny and we got in a few nice long walks. Jake seems to do well in the car and was happy to wait while his foster mom was in the store.
They don't taste very good Jake!

A proud pooch.

Day 9

Last night Jake was so tired we had to carry him to bed! Today he tried to help my mom clean and vacuum the house. Sunday is "Swiffer Sunday" but Jake does not dust :( If his tail was just a bit longer we could tie a swiffer to the end and he could manage a few swipes.  All the dusting would all be at about 3 feet.  He is a true "wiggle butt".  He does not vacuum or do laundry!  I guess he must have been a teenager in a former life.
                 Jake last night!

A sleeping puppy is a happy puppy!

Day 8

Today we met our friend who has a former AUOW dog.  His name is Spencer and he is about 3.  We had a nice walk the two dogs and they got along fine.  Jake does seem to be a bit shy when it comes to men in baseball caps.  Interesting!  I have heard of this before.  After a nice 1 hour walk we came home and hung out.  It started to rain so we just stayed inside for the rest of the day.  Jake is certainly going to make his forever family very happy.  He is so mellow!

Day 7

Today was a quiet day. We didn't go out much and the dogs slept for half the day. It was a rainy day so we had short walks and played a bit. Hopefully this weekend we will be able to go with a former Angels dog for a walk.  His name is Spencer. Keep your fingers crossed for nice weather! More photos below.
Beautiful Jake

Day 6

Wow! It sure is nice to sit down and start blogging. It's been non- stop here since five o'clock tonight. Trying to get the dogs fed and getting supper cooked is a hard job. This morning we decided to play a bit inside. We went down into the master bedroom and through a ball around. Most of our house is hardwood floor and its too hard for the dogs to play. Jake is SO gentle when he plays. After lunch we had to take our dog Darby to the groomers. Darby doesn't like car rides and cried the whole time we were driving. Jake on the other hand just laid down and went to sleep. The thing we were most worried about when we decided to look after Jake was sleeping. If we didn't get any sleep that would be a problem. Jake has been so good when he goes to bed, Darby is the problem. This morning Darby jumped off my bed ran downstairs to where my mom and Jake were sleeping, howled out side the door and when my Mom went to open it he ran back upstairs! Darby, Darby, Darby you are not being very hospitable!

I have some more photos of Jake. Hope you enjoy!

After playing Jake is worn out.

Day 5

This morning Jake slept till 8:00am! At lunch time we went for a walk on the beach with our friend and three girls. The girls loved him. The problem with Jake is no matter how many times you walk him he hardly gets tired. Even I get tired. Jake has been on a total of four walks today. Jake is such a good boy, one of my favourite things about him is at supper when he is here Darby(our dog) doesn't  beg. Right now Jake is on a walk with my parents and I am writing to you guys! I have some happy news about my blog..... I have have had over 312 page views for this blog about fostering! I am so happy:) Here are some more photos of him and if you have any questions about the rescue he is from go to http://www.angelsunderourwings.com/ and look for them on Facebook. Jake is just one of many wonderful dogs looking for a forever home.
Will work for treats!

Looking handsome:)

Another selfie really?

Okay, just one more

Day 4

Jake met the last member of our family. My Dad has been away on a business trip and came home last night. Jake was the perfect door greeter! Good thing, he is the one who buys Jake's food and pays the bills:) This morning I got up and went for a long walk in the forest with my Dad, Jake and Darby.  I am happy to give up my spring break for Jake. He is the perfect guest. This morning at 10:30 I was in the master bedroom and Jake went on the bed. He curled up on Darby's bed and made himself at home. Here are some more photos of Jake.
"Not my bed! hahaha"

Darby does not look impressed!

He loves his belly rubs:)
